Wired microphones set

The box Neumann KM 185 MT Stereo Set is composed by range 180, which includes three compact microphones (KM 183, 184 and 185), which satisfy the demands of all common studio applications and the tight budget productions.

The KM 183 (omnidirectional) and KM 185 (hypercardioid) are based on the KM 184 cardioid microphone, which quickly became a standard in studios around the world thanks to his tremendous success. They are versatile microphones, that turn out to be very effective especially for radio and television uses.

The KM 183 is a pressure transducer whose response curve has a bump of about 7 dB at 10 kHz in open field; in the diffuse field, the response curve is flat. Pressure gradient transducers KM 184 and KM 185 feature very smooth frequency response not only for an affect in the axis (0 °), but also for side effect (off-axis). No sound coloration is detectable even on a very wide angle of capture.

The KM 184 has the same capsule as the KM 84, but has a different level of frequency response for an incidence angle of 0°. It is thanks to a slight modification of the rear apertures of the capsule (and not by changes in internal resonances) that we obtained this result. Thus, beyond 9 kHz, the KM 184 has a slight boost, providing a tonal balance livelier and fresher.

The KM 185 with a minimum sensitivity at an incidence angle of 120 °, offers an attenuation of about 10 dB of sound coming from the back or sides.

Each microphones Series 180 has an output circuit without transformer and has excellent technical characteristics. Thus, with a clean noise level reduced to 22 dB (CCIR) and an increased sound pressure level higher up to 138 dB SPL, the KM 184 has a greater dynamic range of 24 dB relative to KM 84.

The outputs of the range KM 180 is symmetrical and supplied by a phantom voltage (48 volts). It is available in matte black or nickel finish.

These microphones are the ideal choice if you want to equip you with miniature and versatile microphones with high quality, ensuring superb electro-acoustic results, without necessarily having a complex modular system.
